Recycling Tips

When in Doubt, Throw it Out!

Contamination is the term used for non-recyclable items that are placed in the recycling stream (such as food waste). Contamination reduces the efficiency and economy of the collection and sorting process and can cause your recyclables to be rejected which results in increased cost!

Single Stream Recycling

Single stream recycling is a complicated name for a very simple idea: instead of separating your recyclables in to 2 or 3 containers, you put them all in the same one for more efficient collection. No sorting. No separating. Just responsible recycling made easy.

More Tips

  • All shredded paper must be bagged in a clear poly liner
  • CDs and DVDs are not accepted for recycling
  • All beverage containers must be empty
  • Three-ring binders and spiral notebooks are not accepted for recycling
  • Plastic bags (like grocery bags) must be bagged together in a clear poly liner
  • Do not place recyclables in bags (other than shredded paper and plastic bags)
